Six tips for summertime skincare

The summer months are well upon us, and many of us are rushing outdoors or booking holidays to embrace the warmer weather.

But don't forget that your skin has specific needs to stay healthy in the sunshine. Here's our six simple steps to help you look after your skin, and keep it glowing, hydrated and summer ready!

1. Exfoliate face and body

Exfoliating your skin removes dead skin cells, unclogs blocked pores and reveals brighter, new skin below. This helps moisture settle into your skin more easily, which is vital during the warmer months when your skin needs even more hydration and protection.

Introduce Botanicals Facial Polish to your skincare routine several times a week. Organic shea butter, dried botanicals and cold-pressed oils will gently exfoliate and soften the skin, leaving it feeling soft and rejuvenated.

For body exfoliation, choose between Revitalising (Lemongrass) or Nourishing (Wild Rose) Sugar Body Polish. This decadent scrub with natural glycolic acid, will gently polish away dead skin cells and improve skin tone and texture, ensuring your skin is properly prepped for summer!

2. Take cooler showers

Cooler showers can be blissful on warm sunny days, and your skin will appreciate them just as much as you do! Experts say that while hot water can strip away your skins natural oils and dry it out, cold water tightens and constricts the blood flow which gives your skin a healthier glow.

3. Protect your skin after hair removal

It's likely that you'll be shaving or waxing more often during the Summer months, so it’s important to keep your skin healthy and full of moisture. Hair removal can strip away natural protective oils in your skin, causing dryness and irritation.

Following hair removal, always apply Botanicals Calming Body Cream - which is packed with restorative organic oils and shea butter. This will absorb deeply into your skin, keeping it happy and healthy - as well as helping to prevent those pesky ingrown hairs.

4. Feed your skin

After being exposed to the sun, your skin may loose its natural oils and become dehydrated. Feed your skin daily by massaging your face and neck with Botanicals Facial Serum to keep it plump, lively and hydrated.

Pro-balance Radiance Serum is packed with omega-rich organic oils - including rose hip and avocado - to help repair and restore the skin whilst promoting natural balance and boosting radiance.

Your body will love Botanicals Aromatic Body Oils - with six to choose from each with it's own unique blend pure organic essential oils - there's one for every skin type and every mood!

5. Moisturise (before using sunscreen)

Always moisturise before using a sun screen, to protect your skin from any chemicals in your SPF. (Applying moisturiser afterwards can dilute the SPF, putting your skin in danger of being exposed to harmful rays.)

Use Botanicals Gentle or Nourish moisturiser (depending on your skin type). Apply your SPF and then get out there and enjoy the sunshine!

6. Nourish and replenish your skin after sun exposure

After a day in the sun, it’s important to nourish your skin and help replenish any moisture that may have been lost.

As a part of your evening routine, cover areas of the body that has been exposed to sun with Botanicals Body Balm - an indulgent treat for body and mind!

For facial nourishment, use Repair & Renew Night Balm - made with lashings of organic shea butter, jojoba and anti-oxidant green tea. This delicately fragranced balm will melt into your skin, deeply penetrating and plumping cells and working through the night to soften your skin and restore radiance.
