In this latest interview, Kimberley Preece, owner of Salon M Beauty in Newcastle upon Tyne, tells us why she loves Botanicals and why she believes her clients benefit from using Botanicals natural organic products in her salon treatments.

Tell us about yourself & your business

My name is Kimberley Preece and I'm the owner of Salon M Beauty in Newcastle. I've worked within the beauty industry since 2003 and opened my own salon in 2009. In that time I've worked with many brands including Clarins, Espa, Dermalogica, and Caci IPL and Silk Peel treatments. Since 2009, the salon has gone from strength to strength and I now employ two more fabulous therapists. The salon is situated in the city centre of Newcastle and sits above Salon M Hair which is owned by my husband Nigel.
We provide a wide range of treatments in the salon from Lycon waxing, Shellac nails, CND treatments, Classic eyelash extensions, Yumi lashes, High definition brows and Skinbase microdermabrasion and not forgetting our gorgeous Botanicals treatments. I do have a passion for brows and love nothing more than a defined ombré brow!

What do you love most about what you do?

I love everything about my job, love the variety it gives and the fact my clients leave with a smile on their face even if they've just had a bikini wax.

What made you choose Botanicals for your business?

We brought Botanicals skincare into the salon in January 2016 and can honestly say it's been the best decision I've made. I'm a massive fan of Botanicals and love everything about the brand and the philosophy behind it. I adore the gorgeous smells and how they feel, the results they give and the lovely packaging, which not only looks great on our trolleys but looks fab in my bathroom!
Before coming across Botanicals I'd been looking for a new skincare range for a while, as at the time my current range let itself down in a few areas. I do feel you need a brand you can not only trust but believe in and for me Botanicals does just that.
I found out about the Botanicals range when the girls and I from the salon went to a spa and Botanicals was the skincare range they used. I was booked for a facial (which is my go to treatment!) and was blown away by the smells, but mostly the look of my skin afterwards. I then went onto the Botanicals website and ordered myself some products to try - honestly I felt like Christmas when they arrived! I fell in love with the Cleansing Melt and looked forward to removing my makeup as it felt like such a pamper. So in January, once the Christmas madness had died down, we were able to have a day to sit and go over the products and create our routine for the treatments we offer.

What sort of customers choose Botanicals?

We have 4 Botanicals treatments, a 30 minute facial, 60 minute facial, 90 minute back and face treatment and a 45 minute invigorating body polish. I put the treatments on offer and was overwhelmed from the response we received - our clients loved them! We have a wide range of clients from students to lawyers to grandmas but do find it’s our 30+ clients that seem to have these treatments.

What is your favourite Botanicals product and why?

My favourite product of the range is've probably guessed……. it's the Gentle Cleansing Melt with the Organic Muslin Cloth. Closely behind is the Orange Blossom Softening Body Balm - the smell from this product is truly amazing!  Sadly both my children suffer from eczema but the Soothing Salve has really helped to calm and nourish their skin. My youngest, who is 19 month’s now, points to the jar!

What does the future hold for Salon M Beauty?

I’d like to carry on making our clients happy and educate them on our Botanicals range. The beauty industry is so fast paced, with new exciting treatments coming out year-on-year, so we have that to look forward to. I also look forward to seeing what the future holds for the Botanicals brand.
