Q: What's the typical shelf life of botanicals products? A: It varies, typically two years for shampoos, foam bath, body wash, hand wash and soap, and one year for skin care products. Most products are made in small batches to ensure optimun shelf life when they reach you, the consumer. The 'best before' date is printed on the label of all products.Q: How are botanicals products preserved? A: A lot of our products are self preserving because they have no water content (bacteria grows rapidly in water). Where products do need to be preserved, we use herbal extracts, vitamin E, essential oils with anti-oxident properties, and a naturally occurring food grade preservative.
Q: What makes Botanicals products unique? What makes Botanicals different from conventional brands is our dedication to finding and utilising the most high-performing ingredients available in nature. From a formulating perspective, this can be quite challenging, which is the main reason it hasn't yet become mainstream. (Botanicals products and the way they are made, is more closely linked to food than cosmetics.)We use only natural and cold pressed ingredients to provide optimal nourishment and repair. Our products are made fresh, in small batches to preserve their active botanical properties. The percentage of active ingredients we use is always sufficient to have a therapeutic benefit. And our processing methods ensure that the active nutrient (vital life-force) of the plant isn't destroyed by heating or over- processing. Our ability to use plant actives and natural anti-oxidants in our preservation system is earning us a reputation as one of the most effective, (toxin-free) skin care ranges among educated consumers and skin care professionals.
Are Botanicals products safe for everyone to use?Absolutely! All of our skin care products are certified by the Soil Association, the most stringent certifying body in the world. We have also developed a range specifically for use in pregnancy, which we'll be launching very soon.
Are Botanicals products more expensive because they're certified organic? Our price point ranges from £8 to £20, which is more cost effective than most chemical laden products. We are able to keep our retail prices low because we make the products ourselves, and sell them either directly to the consumer, or through carefully selected retailers
What are your plans for the future? We are about to embark on what is likely our most challenging project. To create and a range of products for brand-conscious teenagers! I have two teenage daughters and I know only too well how they are influenced by advertising and branding.I have particular concerns about teenagers, because it's at this stage in their lives, that they are particularly vulnerable to hormone disrupting chemicals often found in a lot of personal care products found on the high street.I'm hoping that my daughters, along with their friends, will become actively involved in developing the range, which have botanically active ingredients (to help with problems like acne). We also have a very talented young graphic designer on our team who will take the lead in designing the packaging. Watch this space.
