Botanicals Ltd, based in Waltham on the Wolds, has won the Welland Enterprise 'Clean Green' Award - sponsored by Barclays Bank - for demonstrating commitment to preservation of the environment.

The natural body care company, which was founded in 2004, has a strict ethics policy based on personal and environmental health and well being, and to offering ecological products that are derived from purely natural sources.

The company's commitment to the environment is based on sustainability, producing biodegradable products from natural and organic ingredients, and using minimalist recycled or recyclable, environmentally friendly packaging.

Botanicals founder, Wendy Stirling said: "We are thrilled to have won the Enterprise Award. It's very rewarding to have recognition for three years hard work in getting our products established in the highly competitive cosmetics market.

"Cosmetics are following food in the organics sector" added Wendy, "with natural body care growing by 20% per year. Awareness is building, and more and more people are looking for non toxic, environmentally friendly products such as ours".

Welland Enterprise Chief Executive John Taylor claimed the standard of award applicants reflected the high calibre of entrepreneurship in the area. "Such people deserve recognition" he said.
